How are Prices Determined?

What drives monthly fees?

Transaction volume. The amount of financial activity in your business directly impacts the time and effort required to maintain accurate books. We evaluate the number of accounts, monthly transactions, and the types of activity being processed to determine the level of work. Businesses with higher transaction volume and multiple accounts generally require more time and oversight than those with simpler operations.

Business complexity. Your business structure also affects pricing. More complex operations require more oversight, effort, and time.

We consider factors such as:

  • Do you have multiple locations or entities?
  • Do you operate in multiple states?
  • Do you need job costing, class tracking, or departmental reporting?
  • Do you file sales tax in multiple jurisdictions?
  • Are you using multiple software systems or platforms for your accounting operations?

Are there other fees I should know about?

Onboarding. We charge a one-time onboarding fee to do the groundwork for managing your books on an ongoing basis. Onboarding typically entails aligning your chart of accounts, verifying opening balances, connecting your bank feeds and software, building the monthly reporting process we’ll run together, and connecting all your tools.

Cost: 1x Monthly Fee.

Backwork. If your books are behind or contain errors, we first need to bring them up to date. We review historical transactions, correct errors, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and ensure your books accurately reflect your business.

As part of the process, we look for miscategorized expenses, missed deductions, duplicate entries, unrecorded transactions, and other issues that can quietly distort your financial reporting.  When your books aren’t accurate, it’s hard to trust your numbers for budgeting, planning, or decisions.

Cost: Monthly fee x Number of months of backwork.

Year-end. At year-end, we close your books, finalize your financials, and use those records to prepare your business and personal tax returns. But effective tax planning begins long before tax season. Throughout the year, we look ahead to identify deductions, evaluate tax-saving opportunities, and implement strategies before deadlines pass.

By the time we prepare your return, the planning work is already done. We ensure the planning decisions made throughout the year are accurately reflected on your returns while ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws. This proactive approach helps reduce risk, avoid surprises, and keep more of what you earn.

Cost: business return fees average $1,750 and personal return fees average $1,000. Pricing is based on your business size, structure, and state filing requirements.
