Michael Cui is a CPA with deep expertise in business taxation, startup finance, and corporate controllership. He holds a BS in Business Administration (Finance), a BA in Philosophy, and a Master of Business Taxation from the University of Southern California. Michael is licensed to practice public accounting in both Washington and California.
Michael started his career at a regional CPA firm in Los Angeles, where he advised small business owners on tax planning and compliance. He went on to build accounting systems from the ground up at early-stage startups, then stepped into Controller roles at established companies in healthcare, gaming, and SaaS—leading financial operations, tightening accounting processes, and helping shape executive decision-making.
He founded Book Pillar CPA to serve small business owners seeking a trusted financial partner without the cost of a full-time hire. He believes that strong businesses create stronger communities, and that accounting goes beyond numbers—it’s about building long-term relationships and helping clients succeed.
